Our New Name – Roger’s Community Garden @ UCSD

Categories:Uncategorized

We here at the garden have decided to change our name from the Neighborhood Community Garden to the new Roger’s Community Garden at UCSD. Don’t worry – we’re still the same people in the same garden, just with a new great name!  Come join us Sunday mornings 10 till noon to check us out and volunteer!

I’m working on a paper about the Slow Food Movement’s impact on UCSD, and these community gardens seem pretty relevant. I’m a third year though, and I’ve never heard about these gardens until this past week. Can you tell me why you think helpful organizations like this aren’t more well known on campus?

Hello there! I think a big issue is publicity. The members that spend the most time working on the garden tend not to have more time to devote to other aspects of it besides gardening maintenance. Having a full time publicity chair would be a huge game changer with our garden becoming more well known.

I have sent 3 emails to the adresses on the garden board, with no response. I would like to get started on a plot as soon as possible! Let me know, thanks.

Hello, what email was given and where did you find it? I apologize for the inconveinence, our site has been needing a revamping, we will need to figure this out soon. In the meantime please email us at rcg_gen@googlegroups.com ! The first steps towards renting a plot is coming out to a Sunday gardening meeting, from 10am-12pm, see the “Volunteer” part of our page for a map leading you to the garden.
